Use whole grain flour for the base, its low in GI which will give you more energy and less sugar glucose.
Use your own tomato paste, dice up 4 fresh tomatos, blend it in warm water and a teaspoon of salt, garlic and parsely. This way you dont have preservatives like you would in supermarkets.
Use low fat soy cheese (good source of protein and low in fat)
For toppings, choose a variation green olives, anchovies or sardines, sundried tomatoes or chilli, avocado pieces, spinach, tuna, spring onions, honey leg ham, capsicum (all three colours red, yellow and green).
Sprinkle fine pepper, little salt, spray a little olive oil on the pan, bake on 240 for 20-30 minutes. Check regularly. Dont let the spinach dry out by spray some olive oil on it or cover it with cheese.
Bon appetite. Enjoy. Can anyone tell me any good pasta recipes as wanting to get fit or any healthy foods to eat please?
if you want past to be healthy(or rice for that matter) opt for brown its miles better as it shill has the wholewheat and isnt just empty carbs. the beauty of pata is you can add what u fancy. eg penne arribiatta pasta tinned tomatos n chilli flakes, if yoy wanna be healthy add chopped veg if not add chorizo! Can anyone tell me any good pasta recipes as wanting to get fit or any healthy foods to eat please?
eating pasta isnt going to make you get fit lol but i am a good cook and i do a good spag bol. just dont eat it for dinner, eat it for lunch, so your body has time to burn the carbs.
put a pot on to boil, once it has boiled put pasta or spaghetti in (however much u desire) and stir (i prefer tubular spaghetti as it floats and doesnt stick to the bottom) once thats in and ok - cut 1-2 carrots, depends what you like, chop an onion and some capsicum and put them in the frying pan (try to use a non stick one so you dont have to use oil) when they are realively soft (you can have them hard soft or middle depends what you like) chuck the mince in (try to get good mine not the fatty cheap one) and use a wooden spoon to ';wack it'; (as i say) all over until in the size you desire. make sure the mince is BROWN before you put any sauces in, even when it does go brown still leave it for a bit to properly cook. once the mince is brown put 2 teaspoons of garlic in, throw some italian herbs (or oregano) (basil if you want it to taste sweet) and mix in well then throw a bottle of sauce in (any, i favour napolitana in pretty much any brand) turn it down and let it simmer and by this time your spaghetti should be ready. drain it and rinse it. throw it all together in the pot you did the spaghetti in (or eat separate if you like) and viola. so easy. so quick. so tasty.
Very simple - allow yourself 80 grams per serving. Top with either virgin olive oil and a grate of cheese or spoon on some crushed tomato, straight from the can with a bit of olive oil and a grate of cheese.
Pasta becomes not too good for you when you start to eat portions over 80 grams and pile on calorie laden sauces.
I've always like Penne pasta. You're going ot have to avoid cheeses if you want to lose weight, uless you go with soy. I would also try to find wheat pastas, much healthier.
You can mix it with herbs and olive oil (throw in some steamed veggies). Porcini mushrooms, zuchini, and eggplant are all great. I also love chives with pasta. And of course fresh basil rocks!
You can even just use olive oil and lemon juice with some ';frutti del mare'; (shell fish) in the pasta. Or if you don't like fish then just use some lemon juice, cracked pepper, and some olive oil.
When I was living in Italy I had so many diffent types of the pomadoro (tomato) sauces from peppery to zesty. I would try to make this fresh, so you don't get all the sodium with the canned stuff. But then one really nice trick is to actually dice up a fresh Roma tomato (uncooked) and then throw that on top. The cool freshness goes really good with the cooked sauce.
Remember the key to Italian cooking is to keep it simple and FRESH!
Bon Apetito! =)
